Using laughing gas Nitrous Oxide:
It is a method used to calm children who feel anxious during treatment or afraid of visiting the dentist, which is effective and safe and is quickly absorbed by the body and has a calming effect, as well as being excreted from the body and its effect ends quickly.
When using laughing gas, the child's feeling of pain becomes less, but not enough to dispense with local anesthesia, and the child remains awake and aware, but his reflexes decrease, but laughing gas may be ineffective in some children, especially those who suffer from severe anxiety or nasal congestion or who feel uncomfortable when wearing a nasal mask. Before performing anesthesia using this device, the following measures must be taken:
- The child should not eat before anesthesia or eat a very small amount of food because a feeling of nausea or vomiting may occur when the child eats his food
- The doctor should be informed of any condition the child suffers from that makes breathing through the nose difficult because it reduces the effectiveness of laughing gas.
